The Debunk hook
The Debunk hook states a common belief, then challenges it.
Being told that something you believe is wrong is hard to scroll past. People stay to hear the other side, even if only to argue with it.
Lines to adapt
- "You need a bigger budget." No. You need a different first three seconds.
- Stop believing [common belief]. Here's what actually happens.
- Everyone says [myth]. It's the reason your [result] stalled.
Fill the brackets with your own product, audience and numbers. Free to use and adapt, no credit needed.
The structure
- 01Quote the myth directly, as something other people say.
- 02Break it with one demonstration or one number. Not three.
- 03Say what to do instead, in a single sentence.
When to use it
Cold awareness in a crowded category with a well-known myth you can genuinely break.
How to shoot it
Talking head, tight crop, no b-roll until the break.
What to avoid
Debunking something nobody believes. The myth has to be one the viewer holds.
